Personally ----I find the 1250 to have a more robust solid sound.The 1280 sounds thinner than the 1250 Estimated Value for Pioneer SX-1280 185-Watt Stereo Solid-State Receiver on Reverb From 1985 - 1991 I used in in a CD based disco operation and many people said it was the best sounding disco they had been too.
